The Milam County Treasurer Donna Orsag resigned from her position on Monday.
The resignation comes after allegations of theft by a public official were made by the Milam County Sheriff's Department.
56-year-old Orsag, of Cameron, entered office on Jan. 1, 2013.
Milam County District Attorney said criminal charges will be filled upon completion of the Sheriff's investigation.
