Central Texas Police and Fire departments are competing to get the most officers and firefighters on the Be the Match bone marrow registry.

The Temple Police Department teamed up with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center's Be the Match Registry to host a bone marrow donor drive on Saturday morning.

The drive was set up to help Terry Dorcas, from Colorado, who was diagnosed with Mantle Cell lymphoma two years ago. Now he needs a marrow or stem cell transplant.

Dorcas says the registry drive isn't just about him.

"If I could help one person because of this, oh my. I just saved a life? Saving a life would be, not be a hero but just I'm humbled again," Dorcas said.

Be the Match is looking for people between the ages of 18 and 44 to register. To find out how click here
