Serving up drinks and rolls for a good cause - that's what local law enforcement did Thursday at Texas Roadhouses across Central Texas.

Lt. Mike Garrett with the McLennan County Sheriff's Office said through Tip A Cop, they raised $4,292 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Texas Roadhouse in Waco.

Garrett said that's the highest to date and it will all go to the Special Olympics of Texas.

Garrett said every year they've beat their prior year goal. Last year, they said they earned $3,600 in three hours.

It's a job change and hard work that officers say is worth it to support the Special Olympics.

"Let me tell you something the first time I done it after three hours, I'd tip these ladies way a bunch next time because they work hard let me tell you. So it really opened my eyes to the wait staff," said Lt. Mike Garrett with the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.

If you couldn't make it out to Texas Roadhouse Thursday all, you can also donate to the Special Olympics of Texas online.
