On July 13, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender were captured.

Briggs Clinton Lawhon, 57, was arrested in Brazoria County and Erasmo Zapata, 45, was arrested in San Patricio County.

Lawhon is affiliated with the Bandidos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang and has several felony convictions for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary of a habitation and delivery of methamphetamine. He was wanted for parole violation and theft. His arrest is the result of tip information.

In 2006, Zapata was convicted of two counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of indecency with a child, sexual contact, after an incident involving a 12-year-old girl. He received a sentence of 15 years and was released on parole in August 2015. In January 2017, a parole warrant was issued for his arrest by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. A second warrant was issued in February by the San Patricio District Court. He is in custody after turning himself in at the San Patricio County Sheriff’s office.

So far in 2017, 17 of Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives and sex offenders, including eight sex offenders and nine gang members, were captured. $48,000 in rewards have been paid for tips resulting in these arrests.
