According to the Waco Police Department, TxDOT will be closing the fast lane's in both north and southbound lanes on I-35, underneath S. Valley Mills Dr.
It is being closed due to an inspection of the of the bridge that was damaged yesterday.
Waco Police is asking drivers to be considerate of the workers.
Ken Roberts, a TxDOT representative, says upon inspection the bridge had excess concrete on the underside of the bridge that became brittle due to the heat of the fire. The bridge is structurally sound.
July 12 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. crews will be closing the two inside northbound lanes of I-35 to remove the excess concrete. Southbound lanes might also be closed if needed.
The overpass will be reopened July 13.
