Man arrested for stabbing roommate while high

College Station police said that a man was arrested on Tuesday for stabbing his roommate while under the influence of drugs.

On Tuesday morning, police said they responded to an agency assist call to the 3200 block of Toni Court.

At approximately 12:49 a.m., police officers responded to a 911 call stating an unknown traumatic injury had occurred. They discovered a victim who had been assaulted and stabbed with a knife. The victim was taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

College Station Police Department said the suspect has been identified as 20-year-old John Powers and was immediately detained.

The victim and suspect were roommates at the residence. College Station police said the victim and suspect were under the influence of drugs when the suspect retrieved a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.

Powers has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and faces a possible sentence of at least 5 years in prison with a fine of up to $10,000.
