Lake Mexia has risen over banks, volunteer evacuations are underway

MEXIA, TX (KXXV) -

The National Weather Service said a trained spotter is reporting that Lake Mexia has risen out of it's banks, and Limestone Emergency Management Officials recorded a level of 452' at The Bistone/LakeMexia.net gage.

Voluntary evacuations are currently underway with help from local fire service as needed.

The water will continue to rise, according to the weather service. It is expected to rise above 453 ft.
