A biker was in the hospital Sunday morning after losing control and crashing into a parked cruiser that was helping with a traffic stop.

It happened just after 1 a.m. on the northbound lanes of SH 6 in College Station.

Police said two patrol cars were working a DWI investigation when it happened. One was parked on the shoulder. The other was parked on the outside lane directing traffic to the inside lane. Its emergency lights and arrow pointing drivers to the left were turned on.

According to police, a biker going north wasn't slowing down or moving to the left. As he got closer, police said he tried to brake but the bike skidded and hit the back of one of the cruisers.

The rider was thrown from the bike, police said. He was taken to the hospital. It's unclear how he's doing.

Call College Station police if you have any information.
