After 11 years as Robinson Police Department's police chief, Chief Rusty Smith has announcement his retirement.

Chief Smith, 64, had 31 years of law enforcement experience when he came to Robinson PD.

During his time as chief, the city of Robinson ranked as the 25th safest city in Texas.

"I've had mixed feelings about retiring, but in the end, it's time," said Chief Smith. "I am proud to have been a part of the department's legacy."

"In the short time I have worked with Chief Smith, I have witnessed his commitment to the police department and the citizens of Robinson," said Craig Lemin, Robinson City Manager.

Chief Smith is expected to retire on Wednesday, May 31.
