The Bell County Sheriff’s Department said that a woman stabbed her father and bit her grandmother while near a rest stop off of I-35.

Police said that Virginia Ewton was involved in an altercation with her father. The vehicle stopped about one mile away from the southbound rest area.

Police said the father received several cuts from a knife, and the grandmother was bit several times on the arm.

Police also received calls about Ewton carrying a child in traffic near mile marker 282. Police arrived on scene and watched her move towards parked trucks at the rest stop.

When Ewton was confronted, she scuffled with a Bell County deputy – with the child still in her arms.

Ewton was arrested and transported to the Bell County Jail. She is in the Bell County Jail.

She is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a public servant and endangering a child. Her bond is set at $175,000.

Police contacted CPS, and they took custody of the two year old child.

The Bell County Deputy was treated and released from Scott and White Hospital in Temple with no serious injuries.
