Temple falls to Highland Park, 16-7 in 5A championship game

The Temple Wildcats fell to Dallas Highland Park Scots at Arlington AT&T Stadium on Saturday. 

The Wildcats (12-3) were battling for the 5A Division 1 state title. Highland Park Scots (13-2) are Region II Champions and the Wildcats are Region III Champions. 

Temple took on unbeaten Richmond Foster 31-24 prior and held a strong defense.

Of Temple's team, quarterback Reid Hesse completes more than 50 percent of passes, running back Jemiyah Franklin has rushed more than 1,000 yards, and defensive end Taquon Graham guarding the defensive line are of several players to watch. 

The Wildcats traveled 115 miles for the state championships. 

Fun fact: A total of 19 Temple graduates have played professional football. Temple is also the 7th-most among Texas high schools.
