Live grenade found in Salado

A live grenade was found Tuesday in Salado. 

The Bell County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to Gravel Crossing Road and F.M. 2484 on the report of a grenade found along the riverbank. 

According to the Bell County Sheriff's Department, the grenade was intact and live. The Corps Park was evacuated. 

The Fort Hood Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit 797 inspected the grenade and determined it was an unstable MK2 Frag Pineapple style grenade. 

The device was placed into a small hole and one pound of C-4 was placed on top. The grade was safely detonated and destroyed. 

There were no injuries or property damage.
