The City of Waco Animal Care Unit, along with the Animal Shelter, is launching a new web feature to help citizens with lost pets.

Citizens can visit lostpetswaco.com to view a map of where animals in the field were picked up by Animal Care within the hour. A photo, description of the animal and the time the animal was picked up will also be included.

After being taken to the shelter and processed, animals will be held for 72 hours before appearing on the Humane Society of Central Texas website as an adoptable animal.

According to the City of Waco, the goal of the website is to make it more convenient for citizens to see where their pet can be located for reclaim.

Animals compliant with Waco’s spay, neuter and microchip ordinance will be scanned for a microchip and attempted to be returned to the owner registered via Animal Care.

Compliant animals taken to the shelter will be returned to the owner free of charge if the animal is current on rabies vaccinations and picked up within 24 hours.

For more information on spay/neuter/microchip visit:www.spaystreetwaco.com.
