Police are investigating several incidents of ‘bank jugging’ in the Brazos County area.

Per Bryan and College Station Police Departments, bank jugging is a term used to describe suspects that sit in parking lots near banks and target victims based on the assumption that the victim has cash.

Police say that suspects will target customers carrying bank bags, bank envelopes, and coin boxes and that they may also target victims at any business the victim stops at after leaving the bank.

To avoid being victims of these crimes, police say that you should always be aware of your surroundings, vehicles with multiple occupants, and to conceal money before leaving the bank.

Police also suggest that if you feel you are being targeted, call 9-1-1 and keep the dispatcher informed of your location.
