The oldest family owned department store in Texas is going to get a makeover.

Cochran Blair and Potts is located in Belton and has been serving the community for over 100 years.

Robert Potts is one of the 7th generation owners and he said they're thrilled to be renovating the store.

"We're really taking the building back to the bones of how it was 100 years ago which is exciting to see," said Potts.

According to Potts, one of the most rewarding parts of the business has been the loyal customers.

"It's kind of interesting to hear some of the long time loyal customers that can remember what it looked like 60 or 70 years ago," said Potts.

Patricia Gunlock is one of those customers who have been shopping at the department store for around 70 years, and she still loves the traditional feel.

"I like the old and the original, It's the antique feel," said Gunlock.

Whether buying clothes, gifts, or house hold items, this department store has merchandise for every age group.

And thanks to the city of Belton, who matched this makeover, the Potts now plan to have more than $100,000 worth of renovations completed.

Mrs. Gunlock said people who know about the store need to spread the word and tell all of their friends.

"Anytime you have company, bring in your friends, show them what its like," said Gunlock.
