WARNING: VIDEO IN FACEBOOK POST IS EXTREMELY GRAPHIC AND HARD TO WATCH

The McLennan County Sheriff's Department is investigating after a graphic video of a teenager abusing a dog circulated on social media.

According to police, they received the information and video at around 6 p.m.

The graphic video shows a dog being lit on fire. It is unknown if the dog was deceased before the video was recorded.

Originally, Hewitt Police opened an investigation, but after investigating, the incident was found to have occurred in the China Springs area.

"I would like to thank all of the citizens who notified us through social media, phone calls, and emails about this incident. Though it did not take place in the City of Hewitt, we were in a position where we could open a criminal investigation, obtain detailed information, and eventually provide that information to the responsible jurisdiction," said Chief James Devlin with Hewitt Police.
