A Bellmead man was sentenced to 17 and a half years in federal prison for the distribution of child pornography.

William Ervin Taylor, 28, was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty in April to the distribution of child pornography.

Taylor admitted to distributing images and videos to individuals he later discovered were undercover agents.

“By conducting these types of investigations, Homeland Security Investigations is taking child predators off the Internet, off the streets, and putting them behind bars,” said Special Agent in Charge Shane Folden, Homeland Security Investigations San Antonio, in a press release. “This sentence sends a clear message that there are serious consequences for those who exploit children in any way.”

Taylor has remained in custody since his arrest in August 2015 and will serve five years of supervised release after completing his sentence, as well as paying $10,000 in restitution.
