Highlassies golf team in third at national tournament

The McLennan Highlassies shot 300 to sit in third place after day one of the NJCAA Women's National Championship at the par-72, 6,139-yard LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Daytona State is in first place with 291, followed by Seminole State in second with 292.

Freshman Roanne Tomlinson shot 71 to lead the Highlassies and is in third place.

Other McLennan scores: Savannah Moody, tied for eighth, 75; Lydia Tryalor, tied for 15th, 77; Gianti Mahardhika, tied for 15th, 77; and Ashlyn Hendricks, tied for 25th, 81.

Other teams scores: Redlands, fourth, 331; Western Texas, fifth, 332; Tyler, sixth, 335; Mesa, seventh, 336; Iowa Western, eighth, 337; Murray State, ninth, 343; Rend Lake, 10th, 363; Barton County, 11th, 367; John A. Logan, 12th, 369; Des Moines Area, 13th, 370; Pima, 14th, 374; Wallace State 15th, 385; Sandhills, 16th, 399; and Otero, 17th, 424.

Three rounds remain in the tournament with the final round to be played on Thursday.
