Mission Waco is halfway through their goal to create a non-profit grocery store in North Waco.

As of Friday, $239,000 has been raised for the Jubilee Food Market. Their goal is $488,000.

Mission Waco said this is a significant statement of the generosity of our community and those outside it who believe bringing good news to the poor is a worthy goal of faith and practice.

They hope to submit remodeling plans to the City of Waco early next week.

Once approved, they will begin the project.

The currently have a volunteer architect, grocery store professionals from Kroger, Walmart, Family Dollar and other stores, a planner, construction companies and a general contractor.

Church volunteers also plan to come work on the project.

Mission Waco will have a meeting to inform the public on the status of the store on Saturday, April 16 at 10:00 p.m.
