Some Ft. Hood soldiers are in Romania right now, helping monitor Russia's actions in Ukraine and strengthening NATO's presence in that region.

Tuesday, American troops began Operation Cavalry March, moving 100 combat vehicles and 300 soldiers 250 miles across Romania.  It's part of a bigger mission called Operation Atlantic Resolve and a demonstration of NATO's ability to move freely within the alliance.

The march was a unified effort between the U.S. Army and Romanian land forces, and it culminated with a community outreach event at a local shopping center in Ploiesti.

Nearly 2,000 Romanians mingled with soldiers and got an up-close look at a Stryker combat vehicle and an Apache attack helicopter.

Three Corps' 4th Infantry Division is the Mission Command Element for Operation Atlantic Resolve.
