A man was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the shin after a shooting in Waco where 80 bullet casings were found.

Waco police said the incident started between a man and a woman who got into an argument at a bar on Sunday night. Police said during the argument, the man assaulted the woman.

In response to the assault, several people drove to the 400 block of N. 23rd Street, where the man was supposed to be, and began firing gunshots.

Police believe there was a shootout between a man inside the home and those inside the car. Over 80 bullet casings from six different weapons were found at the scene.

One person in the home was taken to the hospital after being shot in the shin. Police said it is not a life-threatening injury, but will require surgery.

As police were responding to the scene around 1:30 a.m., they learned a car had crashed into a pole at 23rd Street and Sanger Avenue.

Along with the bullet casings, two vehicles were taken in as evidence.

Waco police will continue to investigate the situation.
