Oncor says two men wearing orange vests have been going door-to-door in areas of McLennan County representing Oncor Electric Delivery to senior citizens.
The two men have been spotted in Elm Mott, Lacy Lakeview and Bellmead. They have identified themselves as "Oncor Energy."
Oncor said the men have handed out business cards with a fake email and phone number, claiming to represent Oncor while providing misleading information about electric billing.
One of the homes the men went to is owned by the aunt of a real Oncor employee, said Michael Baldwin, Oncor South Region Manager. When the woman told the impostors she was related to an Oncor employee, the men immediately left.
While Oncor delivers electricity to homes and businesses, it does not sell the electricity directly to customers. Oncor employees will also be wearing company uniforms and drive vehicles with company markings.
