Baylor's offense looked out of sorts against Duke, but the defense had its hands full too.

The Bears are allowing nearly 30 points per game through three weeks, but the Kansas offense is beating that mark my a touchdown over the same span.

Combine that with the Jayhawks penchant for turnovers and you could see why Baylor's defense needs more big plays this week.

Head coach Matt Rhule spoke about his defensive philosophy and how Baylor is fitting into that during his availability Wednesday.

"You get a bunch of tough, hardworking smart guys -- that are accountable and do everything right and play hard. Then you need a couple of difference makers. Difference makers are guys that knock the ball out. Everyone else does a good job and then those guys take away the big plays. So, you saw Clay make some big plays last game, James Lynch week in and week out I think last week he had like 15 quarterback hurries. So BJ will hopefully be another guy that can go make some of those plays."

Rhule is referring to BJ Thompson, a sophomore defensive end who returns to the lineup this week. The head Bear expects the young man to provide a much needed spark off the edge.

Baylor will host Kansas Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at McLane Stadium.
