Man arrested for trafficking after police say he was 'pimping' women in Waco area

A man is in jail after police said he was 'pimping' 15 women in Waco area. 

The McLennan County Sheriff's Office said that Eddie Sowells, 28, is believed to have trafficked several women in the area. 

The victim said that Sowells had pimped her and others in cities such as Shreveport, Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, New Orleans and in the Central Texas area. 

The victim also told police that Sowells was pimping approximately 15 women in the Waco area.

Police found ads that advertised prostitutes in the area that were being trafficked by Sowells.  

Sowells was arrested and charged with continuous trafficking of persons, promotion of prostitution, nonpayment of child support and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 

He is currently being held at the McLennan County Jail on over a $350,000 bond.
