West ISD, along with 21 other Texas school district boards, was selected as a regional nominee for the 2018 Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) School Board Awards.

Superintendent David Truitt nominated the West ISD board of trustees for the award, which recognizes outstanding Texas school boards for commitment and service that has made a positive impact on Texas public school students.

TASA’s School Board Awards Committee will meet in early August to select up to five of the nominated boards to be recognized as Honor Boards. Those finalists will be interviewed at the TASA Convention in Austin from Sept. 28-30, where one school will be named as TASA's Outstanding School Board of the year.

TASA committee members will review the nominations and select up to two school boards for the state-level awards: one with fewer than 1,000 students and one with 1,000 or more students.

The other 20 schools nominated for this award are: Valley View ISD, Banquete ISD, Corpus Christi ISD, Rice Consolidated ISD, Lamar Consolidated ISD, Lamar Consolidated ISD, Burkeville ISD, Port Arthur ISD, Brenham ISD, Lindale ISD, Mount Pleasant ISD, Burkburnett ISD, Community ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Dripping Springs ISD, Olfen SD, Brownwood ISD, Dimmitt ISD, Kermit ISD, Ysleta ISD and Medina Valley ISD.
