The funeral service has been set for an off-duty Calvert police officer that was killed in a car crash on the Fourth of July.

On Friday, first responders from all over Central Texas joined forces in respect for a fallen brother.

First responders from several agencies gathered together to transport the body of officer James Arrick Jr from the Calvert Police Department.

Arrick will be buried on July 9 at 12:30 p.m. at Rasmey Funeral Home.

Arrick had been a Texas police officer for 10 years and served the city of Calvert for 2 years. He was 32 years old.

DPS said a pickup truck driven by Arrick ran off the road in the southern part of Salado and crashed into another 18-wheeler. Arrick was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash. The 18-wheeler was parked on the shoulder of the interstate.

The crash happened on the northbound side near exit 281 around 3:10 a.m.
