A Harker Heights Police Motor Officer is out of the ICU after a motorcycle crash on Saturday.

The officer, identified as Clyde Hicks, is still recovering at the hospital. Hicks has been with the police department since 2003 and an employee of the City of Harker Heights since 2000.

According to the Harker Heights Police Department, at 12:18 p.m. Hicks was attempting to catch up with a traffic violator on the Knights Way Bridge turn around and lost control of his motorcycle while turning.

The motorcycle was laid down as it skidded across both lanes of traffic on East Central Texas Expressway. The crash separated the motorcycle and Hicks as it slid across the roadway and into a driveway of a local business.

Hicks was taken to Baylor Scott & White where he was admitted into the ICU, according to the Harker Heights Police Department.

Harker Heights Police and Killeen Police Accident Investigation Units are investigating the crash.
