The Texas Department of Public Safety honored Texas Troopers, Special Agents and Texas Rangers who have lost their lives in the line of duty Tuesday afternoon in Austin.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick was the guest speaker at the memorial and said he extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families of the police officers who gave their lives protecting their community.
“Our law enforcement officers are the backbone of our state, protecting our families and loved ones from danger, and today, we pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” Lt. Gov. Patrick said. “It is our duty to make sure their service and sacrifice is never forgotten.”
Trooper Thomas Nipper and Trooper Damon Allen were remembered on Tuesday. Their families put a memorial wreath down during the ceremony.
