The Waco Police Department said one man was sent to the hospital after a shooting Thursday evening.

The incident happened on Pewitt Dr. around 7:15 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man in the back of the residence who had multiple gunshot wounds. The man was transported to the hospital.

He was later identified as 60-year-old Raymond Morris. Morris was stabilized when we arrived at the hospital. He underwent emergency surgery, and his condition is unknown.

Police said the shooter, 40-year-old Steven Johnson, said he shot Morris because he threatened to kill him. Johnson said that Morris had been taking illegal drugs and was on a binge since Mother's Day. When Morris began to come down from his high, he started having a fit of rage and yelling at his fiance. Johnson is his fiance's son, and he attempted to leave the house.

That's when Morris threatened to kill him, Johnson told police. Morris began to chase Johnson with a lamp.

Johnson threatened Morris with the weapon, and when Morris charged at him, he discharged the weapon.

Police said no arrest was made.
