Veterans now have a way to get to and from their medical appointments at the Temple VA hospital.

The Harker Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars bought a van specifically for volunteers to pick up veterans that need a lift.

Rides are offered from five in the morning to five in the evening.

And it's simple if you're a veteran, you qualify.

"You gotta look around, we got a lot of homeless veterans and a lot of people feel like, if you talk to them, they don't think people care. but here at the VFW, veterans take care of veterans," Allen Freeman with the Harker Heights VFW said.

The VFW likes to have at least a week's notice so they can make sure every veteran gets picked up.

They will even stay at the appointment if a chaperone is required for a procedure.
