As graduation celebrations begin to take place around Central Texas, one couple now has something else to celebrate.

Jeff Montgomery, a TSTC Waco Electrical Lineworker Technology student, graduated with honors, got a job and proposed to his longtime girlfriend all in a single week.

After his graduation ceremony on Monday, he popped the question to his girlfriend of five years, Leeann Roen.

Montgomery said his proposal was months in the making, but Roen never saw it coming.

"He just had this look on his face and I'm like, you're joking, you're kidding me," Roen said. "I think I asked probably like seven times and then the next thing I know he was on his knee. It was like a flood of emotion!"

Montgomery and Roen first met back in 2008 during their freshman year of high school. Years later, they began dating.

"I loved her red hair and her freckles and I was just like 'I'm going to get this girl,'" Montgomery said. "I used to tell her all the time I was going to do it."

Montgomery said he originally planned to propose in front of the courthouse, but he never made it out the doors of the Waco Convention Center.

"I looked toward her friend and she looked at me like 'yea were ready' and I'm like 'oh shoot I guess right here right now, we're doing it,'" Montgomery said.

The first of many unforgettable moments for the young couple as they embark on their next adventure.

Montgomery and Roen plan to get married in the next year.
