TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) -

The Temple Police Department said that they are investigating after gunshots were fired in a park on Saturday evening.

Police said two victims told police that they were approached by two men at Wilson Park while they were in a vehicle. The men displayed a handgun, and one man attempted to open the car door.

The victims told police that when the men could not get inside the vehicle, they shot through the driver's side window. The bullet went through the victims' vehicle and struck another nearby vehicle.

The suspects then entered an older model Ford Ranger and drove away from the area. Police discovered the vehicle in an alley and learned that the vehicle had been stolen out of Waco.

One of the victims was treated at the hospital for minor cuts from shattered glass. Police believe the victims and the suspects are acquaintances.

Police said they will keep close patrol on the area during the investigation.
