The City of West Police Department is warning citizens to be aware of who they let in their homes after two elderly citizens answered the door for people they did not know.

In one incident, the people at the door claimed to be government employees and wanted to help the citizen get more money on their monthly check. They convinced the victim to them into the home and asked to use the restroom. The victim found the person in another room going through her things.

In the second incident, the suspects told the elderly victim they wanted to buy a camper that was parking in the backyard. One of the people said they needed to use the restroom and was allowed inside the home. After the suspects left, the victim discovered her wallet with her driver's license and personal cards were stolen.

Police said the two incidents happened in different areas of West. They are urging citizens not to answer the door if you are alone and do not know who the person is.
