6 UMHB athletes named to the American Southwest Conference All-Conference volleyball teams

Six athletes were named to the American Southwest Conference all-conference volleyball teams. 

Two players earned superlatives; Natasha Evans was named West Division Most Valuable Player and Corinne Novak earned West Division Freshman of the Year honors.

Not only did players receive special awards. Rob Frost and Madeline Odom were named Coaching Staff of the Year.

This is the fourth consecutive Coach of the Year award for Coach Frost.

He and Odom guided the Cru to its third consecutive West Division title this season and have coached a team that leads the conference in hitting percentage (.258), opponent hitting percentage (.111), kills (1269), and blocks (210.5).

Senior Natasha Evans of Edna TX leads the ASC with 960 assists and a 10.21 assist per set average in 2017.

Evans is the anchor of the UMHB offense that leads the conference in hitting percentage and kills per set. She has added 73 kills with a .363 hitting percentage so far this year.

Corinne Novak, the Freshman of the Year ranks fourth in the ASC with 259 kills and eighth with a point-total of 289 so far her freshman year.

Miranda Klein and Sarah Paolini were named All-ASC and First Team All-West Division.

Maddie Frerich and Haleigh Evans were the final two named to earn All-Conference honors.

Frerich a junior middle hitter earned Second All-West division honors and she leads the Cru with 99 blocks on the season.

Evans a sophomore libero was named Honorable Mention All-West Division and leads UMHB with 439 dogs per set average.

UMHB is currently 25-3 on the season and continues action in the 2017 ASC Volleyball Championship as the West Division Champions.
