The Killeen Independent School District said somebody claiming to represent a sports memorabilia company known as Touchdown Sports has solicited two local businesses and said they are affiliated with Killeen ISD's athletic programs.
Killeen ISD says it is not affiliated with that company.
The district also says it hasn't given the organization consent to promote sales of sports memorabilia.
Killeen ISD is now encouraging local businesses to contact the athletics department to determine if a company is legitimate when claiming to represent the school district before signing any contacts.
