16-year-old dies in fiery car crash in Belton

The Belton Police Department said a teen died from a single vehicle crash that caught fire on Interstate 35 in Belton.

The victim is identified as 16-year-old Gentry Nelson from Denton. He died at the scene. 

Police said the crash happened on July 29 at around 3:40 p.m., on I-35 near the 190 merge. 

Police said Nelson was driving erratically and lost control and crashed. The car then caught on fire.

He was driving a 2005 Ford F-150.

His body is being sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
