The Baylor women’s tennis program was recognized for its academic accomplishments by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) this week.

Baylor is one of 195 women’s tennis teams to garner a 2017 ITA All-Academic Team award, which recognizes programs that maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher throughout the year. All varsity letter winners are factored in to the cumulative GPA for the current academic year, including fall and spring semesters.

Freshman Jazzi Plews, senior Blair Shankle and junior Theresa Van Zyl were honored individually with 2017 ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition. To secure the honor, players must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of 3.50 or better for the current academic year and be enrolled at their institution for at least two semesters.

Shankle is a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, while Van Zyl and Plews are first-time honorees.
