On July 17, Atmos Energy crews will oversee a controlled natural gas flaring on Fort Hood.
The flaring will begin around 8 a.m. on 31st Street, between Tank Destroyer Boulevard and Battalion Avenue.
A flaring is a standard practice to safely burn natural gas needed to be removed from specific sections so that crews can work on a pipeline. This is part of normal, routine maintenance operations.
Those in the area during the time of the flaring will notice a large, controlled flame and moderate noise for about three to four hours.
