If you haven't already, you may be seeing a new face around the city of Belton.

Les McBurney is the Belton fire department's brand-new mascot.

The nine-foot addition made his debut at the Belton Fourth of July parade last week and News Channel 25 was able to speak with the Belton Fire Chief about Les's mission.

"Les's purpose is so we can help reach out and increase our fire prevention program and to go out and help the kids relate to what fire prevention is. So Les will be going out and spending a lot of time in the community," Chief Pritchard said.

Chief Pritchard says Les is very knowledgeable on fire safety and he looks forward to sharing it with Belton's kiddos.
