Fort Hood soldier arrested after car chase on I-35

BELLMEAD, TX (KXXV) -

A soldier is in custody after a chase in Bellmead Tuesday afternoon.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said that a soldier from Fort Hood was speeding by Crest Drive on southbound Interstate 35. 

Javon Broussard, 19, took the Behrens Circle exit where he hit a curb, going airborne and crashed into the Delta Inn sign located off of the exit. He was not injured.

DPS said the pursuit reached speeds over 100 miles per hour. 

The soldier was arrested and charged with felony evading arrest and is being held at the McLennan County Jail. 

No other details were released.
