When you take a drive through Woodway, you might notice you're taking that drive on quite a few "drives" - literally.
Many of the residential community's streets are named "drive"-- and there's a historical context, according to Woodway City Manager Yost Zakhary.
“I think the folks who started Woodway—it was a rural area many, many years ago, and a lot of it was cattle and cattle drives. And, a drive is designated to take you from one area to another through often times pedestrians, versus a highway which is for vehicular traffic mainly. Highways are relatively new, but drives and streets have been around forever", said Zakhary.
