Motorcyclist dies after hit-and-run, police looking for suspect

KILLEEN, TX (KXXV) -

Killeen police said a motorcyclist has died after an accident on Wednesday on the 1400 block of Rancier Ave.

Police said that the initial investigation showed that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the outside lane. A Hyundai Tiburon failed to yield right of way when the motorcycle attempted to turn left onto Alexander St.

The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene on foot before officers arrived.

The 48-year-old motorcyclist was transported to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights, where he succumbed to his injuries.

He has been identified as Derrick Evans of Killeen.

This crash continues to be investigated and information will be released as it becomes available.

Police are actively searching for the suspect in the Hyundai Tiburon.
