A motorcyclist has been airlifted to Scott and White Hospital in Temple after he slammed into the back of a College Station Police Department patrol vehicle Sunday morning.

The 27-year-old ran into the back of the stationary patrol car while an officer was conducting a DWI investigation.

The motorcyclist suffered multiple fractures and major internal injuries.

On Tuesday morning, the College Station Police Department will close down northbound Highway 6 between Harvey Road and Briarcrest Drive at 2 a.m. to allow investigators to reconstruct the accident.

Drivers will have to take the Harvey Road exit and can get back on Highway 6 at Briarcrest Drive.

The investigation is expected to take about four hours.

So far, there have been no charges filed because of the accident, and the name of the motorcyclist is not being released at this time.
