One person was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a wreck involving a semi-truck and an SUV.

Bruceville-Eddy Volunteer Fire Rescue said the driver of a black SUV crashed into a semi-truck that had parked on the shoulder of the southbound lanes of I-35 near mile marker 318 about 9 a.m. The SUV ignited on impact, firefighters said.

Good Samaritans helped put the fire out and pulled the driver out of the SUV, according to firefighters at the scene.

One person was taken to Scott & White Medical Center Temple with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.

All southbound lanes were reopened about 10:30 a.m.

It's unclear what caused the wreck.

Bruceville-Eddy PD, Lorena PD, Moody PD, and DPS responded to the wreck.
