First Baptist Church Temple held its third annual First Blessing shoe giveaway Saturday morning.
The church worked with Shoe Carnival to gather shoes to give to children, in programs like Communities In Schools throughout the surrounding area, a new pair of socks and shoes.
In order to provide the 'First Blessing' to 600 children, First Baptist Church Temple raised $12,000 in just four short weeks.
"It's not really me. It's God and it's all these people that come together. So, we all talk about, all year long, about the blessing," said Glenn Lackey, founder of First Blessing.
First Blessing offered children, ranging in age from infant to 8th grade, three pairs of brand new shoes to choose from. Every child walked out of First Blessing Saturday morning with a full tummy, a bible, a picture with Santa and a new pair of shoes.
