The Interim Waco Police Chief has indefinitely suspended Officer George Neville after he was arrested for assault.

The officer is accused of assaulting a suspect during a traffic stop.

Police said they became aware of the incident involving several officers in June. A supervisor from the Detective Division was assigned to determine if criminal charges were applicable against the officers.

After an investigation by the Waco Police Department, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Neville for an assault that happened in May.

Neville turned himself in on Aug. 18.

Police said all other officers involved in the incident have been cleared of any wrongdoing.

The internal investigations by the Professional Standards and Conduct Unit on those officers have also been completed with two officers, each receiving five day suspensions.
