Waco Police have now cleared the scene where a suspect barricaded himself on near 12th St. and Lyndon Drive on Saturday morning.

According to Waco Police, around 2 a.m., a man who had assaulted his girlfriend called dispatchers advising them not to go to the scene because he had a knife to his throat.

Police and a SWAT team went to the apartment complex to negotiate with him because he may have been harmful to the woman, according to police. After not getting any response, officers set up a perimeter to speak with the man.

Police said they used force to enter the home and when they did, the suspect had already fled.  Officials plans to issue a warrant for the arrest of the suspect whose name has not been released.

The woman was taken to the hospital for her injuries. The severity of those injuries is unknown at this time.

After 9 a.m, the streets reopened and the traffic was back to normal in the area of 12th and Kennedy Circle .
