The swimming area of a popular Crawford hot spot will be closing on July 25.

Tonkawa Falls will be closing its swimming area because of the low water.

According to Crawford Police, the falls that typically fill the area is not running like usual, causing the depth of the water to drop.

Police say that the water will become stagnant with the heat, which could cause health issues for swimmers.

Until July 25, jumping into the area is strongly discouraged.

The area surrounding the falls will also be closed to do a Texas Department of Transportation project to replace a bridge over the creek.
