Bell County has a confirmed case of Zika Virus

Bell County Public Health confirmed a travel-related case of Zika Virus in Bell County. 

Bell County Public Health says the male traveler was infected with the virus while he was traveling in a Zika-affected area outside of the United States. 

This is the first confirmed case of Zika in Bell County and the 60th in Texas.

According to Bell County, there is no evidence of local transmissions. 

Common symptoms of Zika virus are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis. The virus is linked to birth defects and neurological symptoms.
