The McLennan County bomb squad was called to a China Spring neighborhood after a report of an explosive device found at a home before 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The McLennan County Sheriff’s Office said the military ordnance was found at a house on Illinois Ave. that someone had recently rented.
Officials evacuated homes on both sides of the street and kept people 300 yards from where the device was found.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the device could not be disposed because of the proximity to the homes. Therefore, the Fort Hood explosive experts were called in to remove the device from the location and dispose of it.
Officials don’t believe the military ordnance found is related to explosives previously found in two locations in McLennan County and one location in Falls County.
